NGN Migration

NGN Migration

The process of converting passive cabinets to active ones – a key step in NGN migration – requires accurate information on local loop connectivity at the cabinet level and the services it carries. This enables the existing pairs to rapidly be copied from the old frame to the new one without errors and with minimal service interruption.

Once cabinet migration is completed, information about the quality of the pairs is a prerequisite for supplying advanced high-bandwidth services. With a full understanding of the capabilities of each pair, Carriers can confidently decide which services should be installed on each pair and what bit-rate package can be offered to each customer.

In parallel, precise information at the intra-cabinet level also enables the introduction of an automatic cross-connect matrix, thus automating their service provisioning processes, and potentially slashing ongoing provisioing and operational costs.

Although an accurate local loop database is a fundamental prerequisite for an efficient migration process, most Carriers cannot rely on the accuracy of their current records. RiT's field-proven information gathering tools automate the task, building databases with accurate information regarding the connectivity and characteristics of each pair in the infrastructure and its associated services.
