Key Advantages of the PatchView installation
For Mr. Bernau, the key advantages to the RiT Intelligent Physical Layer Management Solution (IPLMS) were the switching panels and the remote management capabilities of the PatchView for the Enterprise management software working in tandem with the LED indicators.

Quote:
“PV gives me more time for other stuff. I don’t have to waste time when there’s a problem and I’m in one of the other offices. Before I would have to phone into the office and track down someone who had enough time to help. Usually a colleague who’s willing to help. And even if it only took half an hour to explain the problem to him and what to look for and where – it rarely took less than half an hour for 2 people and that’s one whole man/hour wasted away from the real work just for small things like a fallen network connection.”
Now I can fix such a problem instantly because I have visibility both into where exactly the problem is and more to the point – when I send someone to the communications cupboard to fix it – I can be far more precise, I don’t have to start explaining where the problem is hidden and no-one has to hunt out which patch or outlet I mean. I just show them through the built-in LEDs. This way I can see immediately whether a patch cord has been removed and react immediately.
My colleagues can also see and solve issues during my absence (vacation or sickness) no matter where they are in the world.”
