How will PairView help me to better utilize my network assets?
For most operators, the Outside Plant is like a bottomless pit, and the fact that there is no accurate record of what is “down there” leads to a tremendous waste of resources. Accurate information is the key to reduced maintenance and provisioning costs, improved customer service, and enhanced network planning. In other words, PairView enables you to increase the return on the infrastructure capital investment.

How will PairView help me work efficiently with my technicians and to reduce my maintenance and provisioning costs? How do I overcome their doubts regarding the accuracy of a computerized database?
The best way to overcome their doubts is for them to see the positive effect an accurate database will have on their day-to-day work.
-
The use of PairView often reduces the amount of field work and truck rolls required to carry out work orders. Once Street Cabinet mapping information is accurate, many services can be provisioned directly from the CO with no need for a field visit.
-
Even when a field visit is required, there is a marked reduction of time spent at the cabinet. Dispatch orders are clear and complete. Technicians are sent to the right cabinet, eliminating hours of wasted time tracing and testing lines. The result is the ultimate “win-win-win”: happier, more productive technicians; faster provisioning with happier customers, and lower operational costs.

I see how PairView can help cut expenses. But can it also help me increase revenues?
Although PairView’s main benefits are aimed at cutting operational expenses, many of our clients also find that it is an important tool for increasing revenues due to the following benefits:
Service Assurance: PairView allows you to monitor the services that are actually being supplied by operators who lease your lines. In all likelihood, this will result in increased billings and increased revenues.
Identifying Pairs for additional Services: Using PairView will allow you to better identify additional ‘hidden’ pairs in your network. This will allow you to supply additional services and bandwidth to your customers – both voice and bonded broadband services when needed -- quickly, and without the need for additional investment.
Reducing “churn”: One of the biggest sources of customer frustration is slow provisioning and ineffective customer service. PairView dramatically improves the efficiency of provisioning and maintenance activities, resulting in happier customers that remain loyal to the telco.

How can PairView help me improve the effectiveness of my network planning?
Using PairView, you will have a clear and accurate view of the cable utilization throughout the Outside Plant. With this reliable, visible information, it will be easier for you to plan and reassign your network resources more effectively to the places they are most required.

Demand for our fixed-line services is hardly growing any more. So why do I need PairView?
Although demand for fixed-line voice services is slower than before, fixed line services are still your largest revenue source, and the copper plant remains your most important asset. For example, the demand for ADSL-based broadband services continues to rise, and the existing wireline infrastructure gives you a low-cost ADSL platform.
PairView allows you to “mine” the infrastructure so that you can supply new services -- both voice and data -- without adding new lines. At the same time, PairView significantly reduces the ongoing costs associated with this huge resource – particularly maintenance and provisioning costs.

Why should I upgrade from PairView to PairView Pro?
PairView Pro offers significant new benefits that make it faster and more efficient to operate and even better at reducing operating expenses.
PairView Pro can identify, test and scan ISDN and xDSL lines as well as POTS and spare lines. This allows you to test and verify almost 100% of the copper plant.
PairView Pro performs all these functions 30% faster than before.

How many discrepancies can I expect to find?
The number varies from operator to operator and country to country, depending on a number of factors:
- The age of the network
- How dynamic the network is
- The maintenance and database documentation practices that have been followed (how the database is updated to reflect a field transaction or repair)
- The frequency with which manual verifications are performed at the cabinets
- Other maintenance- related practices.
In our experience, most operators find 15%-40% discrepancies as compared to the existing database.
