PatchView+ Collector

The PatchView+ Collector provides bi-directional communications between the PatchView+ Cards and rest of the system. The Collector "collects" data from the PatchView+ Cards and provides real-time data to the system. It also sends various commands to the Cards. 

 

The Collector communications are enabled through an unmanaged L2 switch, which saves on ports in the main switch and enables cascading of collectors to provide unlimited network growth. Each Collector supports up to 24 Cards, with each Card supporting 24 ports. Thus a single Collector supports up to 576 ports.

The Collectors can be installed either in a zero-U or 1U configuration. 

 

The Collector is powered through the mains supply via a power socket on the rear panel, and supplies power to the PatchView+ Cards over an RJ-45 shielded cord. 

 

The PatchView+ Collector features:

  • Supports space saving installation, either as zero-U or 1U rack installation

  • Supports switch savings through support of up to 4 ports

  • Collects data from the PatchView+ Cards and routes it to agents upon request over TCP/IP network, private or public, for advanced security

  • Supports up to 24 PatchView+ Cards (for a maximum of 576 ports supported)

  • Supports a unique ID code for system-wide identification

  • Supports a daisy-chain configuration using TCP/IP ports, enabling unlimited network growth

  • Includes an On-the-GO (OTG) mini-AB USB socket, enabling connection to an external device such as a tablet PC for work order and switch learning

  • Includes a host type A USB socket, enabling connection to a USB device such as a flash drive

LED Indicators 

  • Port (Fast Ethernet) Status Indicators: 2 x LEDs on each L2 switch port for post status, as follows:
    • Link LED (green): Shows the status of network connectivity at the port.
      When a network link is established on the port, the LED is lit green; otherwise, it is off.
    • Act (Activity) LED (amber): Shows the status of data transaction on the port.
  • When a network link is established on the port but there is no data transaction, the LED is lit amber.

  • When data transaction takes place on a port, the LED blinks amber.

  • When a network link is not established on the port, the LED is off.

     
  • Collector Status Indicators: 2 x LEDs for power and CPU statuses, as follows:
    • PWR (Power) LED: Shows the status of power in the Collector.
      When the input power is available to the unit, the LED is lit green; otherwise, it is off.
       
    • CPU LED: Shows the status of the Collector processor:

  • When the Collector processor operates in the normal mode, the LED blinks green.

  • When the Collector processor operates in the boot mode, the LED is lit green.

  • When the Collector processor if not powered, the LED is off.
