These are increasingly analogous, or even identical to Edge data center sites. The challenges associated with a widely distributed technology estate are very similar whether these are called data centers or PoPs. The requirement to have an accurate equipment inventory with power and communications dependencies; to monitor and manage site performance or environmental factors and the need to provide low overhead support for remote installations, moves, adds and changes are identical.

 

These complex estates can only be properly managed with access to accurate and reliable information to manage these diverse sites. This requires the use of more effective remote monitoring tools and intelligent management systems incorporating advanced features such as 3D simulations, knowledge-based algorithms, trending and prediction of potential problems or impending capacity constraints. All using Machine Learning and Analytics to gather vital data, interpret and accurately display the resulting information.
