Datacloud ESG Summit 2023

Sep 26, 2023

Who better to take the stage than Mark Acton? A realist and pragmatist, Mark will take part in two keynote panels on 27th September:

- Panel 1: Unifying sustainability standards - 9am on Wednesday, 27th September

- Panel 2: Panel: The point of diminishing returns - 3:40pm on Wednesday, 27th September

Our own ambitions have been aligned with this strategy for some time now, not least in ensuring the industry has a unified and standards based approach to ESG reporting - absolutely vital for both transparency and accuracy.

In both sessions, Mark will share his insights into the requirements for data center operators in aligning sustainability standards to global environmental goals, giving practical and realistic advice and highlighting the importance of transparency through the accurate reporting for these standards.

As expected, Mark will also address the very real challenges of balancing other obvious risks with the need to act sustainably – for example data sensitivity and data sovereignty in certain jurisdictions where not all compute can sit in a sustainable location. Panel 2 will address optimising location of workloads at a granular level and how the supply chain has a major role to play in supporting infrastructure owners.

How are these panel topics aligned with XpedITe and its abilities to support the industry when it comes to environmental compliance, CSRD and other regulatory obligations?

While undoubtedly the data center market is continuously expanding and improving for customers and its stakeholders, the additional Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) demands represent a sizeable headache for those data center operators without the tools in place to collect, verify and collate the data needed to satisfy regulations such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive’s requirements. And for qualifying firms, companies with more than 250 employees and a turnover in excess of €40 million, the clock is ticking.

Businesses already subject to the Non-Financial Reporting Directive, which requires those organisations in scope to publish details of their ESG performance alongside their annual management report, will need to report on 2024 data – meaning a means of capturing accurate facts and figures needs to be in place by the end of this year. XpedITe, RiT Tech’s Universal Intelligent Infrastructure Management tool, has evolved with this dual purpose in mind.

A hi-tech tool that genuinely cares for its environment – and is specifically tailored to each of its hosts and supplied as a managed service – the programme integrates and interacts with its surroundings so that it can present a real-time, 360-degree picture of operations and universally supports every department associated with a facility, from operators and engineers to security and client services.
