WHAT
IS UIIM?
A practice, comprising methodologies and guidelines for effective and efficient federated data center infrastructure management.
UIIM is an evolution of DCIM aimed to empower I&O leaders, broadening the perspective and guiding to insightful and applicable data analysis. In essence ‘more universal’ and ‘more intelligent’.
- UIIM addresses planning, implementation, management, operation and control of data center environment.
- It considers the entire stack of infrastructure layers and their interdependency, including environment and facility, IT hardware, power and network connectivity, as well as software services.
- It applies to a variety of infrastructure environments, including colocation, enterprise data centers, edge and dark sites, public and private cloud, and hybrid environments.
- It aims to optimise resource utilization, including energy, BOM, smart hands, SLA, operational costs and sustainability goals.
- It will provide capabilities evaluation guidelines for management tools and offers a technology evolution roadmap.
